BUSINESS LAB · EVIDENCE BEFORE TACTICS

Do my salespeople need training or a better system?

Training fits a verified skill gap; a system correction fits missing ownership, tools, authority or a workable process. Check lead quality, the offer and actual sales work before choosing either. A team can complete tasks without results when the constraint sits elsewhere. Define the gap and the measurement before booking training.

Look at the work, not only the total

Review comparable opportunities and real calls, notes or messages. Identify whether the salesperson completed the expected task and whether that task was useful. Missing discovery questions, an unowned enquiry and a product that cannot be delivered are different problems.

Separate a reported weakness from a confirmed cause. A poor conversation can be observed, but its contribution to the total sales gap still needs comparison or a test. Avoid making a personnel judgment from a single anecdote.

Test whether the conditions support execution

Check lead routing, clear expectations, usable information, available stock, approved terms, tools and time. A person cannot follow a process they cannot access or approve a decision outside their authority. Correct a material system obstacle before evaluating a skill intervention.

When the environment supports the task but the skill is missing, targeted practice, examples and feedback may help. Define what the team should do differently on real opportunities; attendance alone is not evidence of application.

Measure transfer and business results

Agree who will coach, how the task will be reviewed and which comparable opportunities will be tracked. Measure the behaviour and the downstream sales and contribution. Keep demand, lead source and offer changes visible when interpreting the result.

If the team does the new behaviour without better outcomes, revisit the hypothesis instead of automatically ordering more training. The cause could be lead fit, the offer, price or timing. Business Lab scopes training around an evidenced need; this guide promises no fixed format or result.

Frequently asked questions

Will training repair poor lead quality?

Not by itself. Improve the definition, promise or routing that creates unsuitable opportunities.

What should training success mean?

Application of the relevant skill and reviewed business outcomes, not attendance or satisfaction alone.

Where can I read about training?

Use the corporate training page and the training-not-applied diagnosis guide to review fit before agreeing a scope.
